Was talking to Adora on Sunday after Pumpfest, both of us didn't do quite as well as we are capable of, cos we were both really nervous that day. For different reasons of cos. For her, she was just nervous cos she had never been in the finals before, and I was really tensed as I new the future funding of NP Climbers might be depended on my performance that day. Anyway, Adora has really improved! From 41 last year, to 7th this year! Good job girl. While talking to her, I just remembered something I read that some guys said about climbing. Something that I shared with her and like to share with everyone. The most important thing in climbing is to enjoy your climb! This not only applies in climbing, but to life as well, but I shall use climbing terminology to explain this statement. We will face many routes in climbing, and there are some of those routes that you'll only be able to do it once in a lifetime. Perhaps the route was taken down, or it was really dangerous, or perhaps even destroyed. These are the routes you would like to look back upon, and recall "Yes, I remember that route! It was a great route, and I really had fun on it!" It would be such a waste if we had to look back upon the same route, and instead remember doing it in a poor mental frame. Not compleating it, and knowing you could have done it, but you'll never have a chance to do it ever again. That route will always stay in your mind, haunting you, and you'll always yearn for a second chance to try it out again, but knowing you'll nv be able to do so. So this is a promise to myself, I will do my best to ensure that i enjoy every route I take up in the future! Doing it like it will be my only chance at it. No more shall Pumpfest be repeated, where I underperformed due to unnessasary stress. See you in Open Men's in a year.

Question in a Law Test
"What is Frustration?"
Student's Answer "What I'm feeling at the moment"
Teacher's Responds "If frustrating event has been brought about because of the conduct of one of the parties, fustraion would be "self-induced" and hence fustration cannot be successfully raised" (Maritime National Fish Ltd v Ocean Trawlers Ltd)
Note, You might have to do law to understand this. =D

Hmmm, it's interesting to see my blog going through so many phases. There was the dota phase, the floorball phase, now it's the climbing phase. Wonder how long this phase would last this time. Haha
Anyway, just finished Pumpfest today, managed to get 2nd for Novice Men's catagory.
Qualifying was held on Friday, managed to miss school for that. (yay). Did really well then, got first for qualifying. Finishing 3 of the 4 boulders, and getting the bonus for the last one. Thus entering the Finals.
Finals was then held today. Finished only 2 of the 4 boulders, and getting the bonus for the other 2. The guy that got first managed to finish all 4 of the boulders though. Really did not perform up to what I could today, and surely not as well as I did on Friday.
This was mostly due to stress. Cos once you get to the finals, you get promoted to the next catagory. So you only get this one shot to win. Also winning was really important cos we needed the results to bug the school for support for our club. Should I not win, who knows when our next win might be.
It was so bad that I was actually shivering on the first boulder. That really sapped my strenght as I kept falling off, and still not managing to finish it. Managed to flash my 2nd route, and get the 3rd route on my 3rd attempt. Thus by the time I got to the last route, I was kinda pumped. Tried to campus to the 2nd last hold, but was just too tired to stick the hold.
Well, I guess 2nd is not bad a placing. At least from now the preasure shouldn't be quite as bad.

The Greatest Presentation
I swear, today we must have pulled of the greatest feat in presentation history. I have to thank my group, Ken, Nadia, Josh, Des, and I for making it possible.
So I walk into class, in poly uniform - t-shirt and jeans. Oh crap! Everyone else is wearing formal attire! I look up and see Nadia, also in her normal clothes. She looks up at me and says, 'Crap, the presentation is TODAY'
One by one my group arrives, all also dressed in poly uniform. We knew we were in trouble. Of the 5 of us, only 3 of us knew what the whole project was about. So i go to ask the tutor if it's ok if just one person from the group presents, instead of everyone doing one part. She hinted that it was not a very good idea.
So I look at Nadia, 'Lets do this interview style, we just ask each other questions. Then we'll bring Ken in as an outside expert.' She looks back agrees that it could work. Then we look at the other 2. We say to Des, 'Ok, follow Jon. Pretend to be a band member who wants to perform in the cafe. Josh, you be the waiter/owner of the place that we'll be having the meeting.'
So the cast is set. We do our presentation, skit style. Nadia and I are having a meeting to discuss our business plan, we bring Ken in as an outside expert on the matter, Des is rep of a band, and Josh is the owner of the cafe of which we ask for his advise on our business.
Cut the long story short. Tutor was like, 'Did you guys just come up with all that in the 5 min at the back? It was really well done! All of you guys suited the roles you all played!'
Great job team!

This blog has been empty for a very long time. Party due to the fact that I've had many things on lately, and I'm too lz to blog. Been away to Thailand for 2 weeks for community service, had Orientation for my school, cca recruitment drive, and just finished my first week of poly again. Just some of the things I've been up too Well, here's a word to all. Though we always work hard to strive for our dreams, We always need to take time off now and then. To take a look at the big picture, To challenge ourselves to take that step forward No matter the score, And to dare to be different! All pictures taken in Thailand.

Jonathan, from today onwards untill exams, you are now banned from climbing. Anyone who see or hears of you climbing hold the right to kick you out of the rock gym, and in the nuts.
